Roofing in Monument
Monument is a snow problem before it is a hail problem, and it sits closer to a code threshold than anywhere else we work.

Eighteen feet under the line
PPRBD requires an eave ice barrier on properties above 7,000 ft. The town of Monument sits at 6,982 ft — eighteen feet below it. Plenty of the surrounding Tri-Lakes terrain is above it. Which side of that line your particular address falls on decides whether the ice barrier is required, and it is worth establishing before anyone gives you a number, because it is not a trivial line item.
Roughly three times the snow
The Palmer Divide lifts moving air as it crosses, and that lift turns into snow. Monument averages in the region of 110 inches a year against about 33 in Colorado Springs, less than twenty miles south. Same county, same permit office, entirely different loading on the roof.
What that changes
Ventilation and ice-damming behaviour matter more here than they do down in the city, and eave detailing carries more of the load. A roof specified for Colorado Springs and installed in Monument is not the same roof.
